Lorenz Scholz of Rosenau (also: Laurentius Scholtz) (* 20 September 1552 in Breslau; "† 22 April 1599 ebenda) was a German Botaniker and physician.

Life

After acquisition of classical training at the Elizabeth school in Breslau Scholz visited the university in Wittenberg. There as well as in Padova (Padua) and Bologna it studied 1572-78 medicine and other natural sciences. 1579 it undertook an education journey with several compatriots by Italy, went in the connection to France, where it attained a doctorate at the University of Valence to the doctor of the medicine and philosophy.

After its return after Schlesien Scholz married the Breslauer minister daughter Sara Aurifaber. Starting from 1580 it practiced in Freystadt in Schlesien as a physician, starting from 1585 in Breslau. 1596 he was raised into the nobility. 1599 died Scholz of Rosenau at Tuberkulose.

It by the translation and publication of writings of famous Greek, Arab as well as contemporary physicians became famous. Thus about its work Aphorismorum represents medicinalium cum theoreticorum tum practicorum sectiones VIII of 1589 a manual of the entire medicine of its time.

Also made itself Scholz of Rosenau a name as Botaniker.
