Under the beer places the Pils is the most popular, however there are also here large regional variations and characteristics (for example in and from Cologne or alto at the Niederrhein). Further popular sorts are export and wheat (particularly in South Germany; Wheat increasingly also country widely). To the most well-known marks belong Krombacher, Bitburger, Warsteiner, Veltins, Beck's, king Pilsener, Erdinger, Diebels, Jever, Paulaner and Franziskaner.
