The Lindener special is a beer, of which the Lindener share brewery from lime trees, a quarter of Hanover comes of. Today it is produced and driven out by the Gilde brewery AG in Hanover.

History of the Lindener brewery

Establishment

Fire and Meyer created 1852 in lime trees the brewery of the same name Brande&Meyer. Frequently Brande&Meyer met with in Hanover the residents Braugilde before court, since this had a monopoly on deliveries on beers, inserted festgelegetes by laws, into the city. These laws were finally waived. (At the time at that time lime trees were still another their own city and no quarter of Hanover like today!)

1871 were created the Lindener share brewery (LAB), which took over the brewery Brande&Meyer. Besides brew-purely in the Blumenauer STR became. bought. The LAB produced already 1891 with 80 coworkers 130,000 Hektoliter annually.

Assumption by the Braugilde

The Braugilde Hanover acquired 1926 the majority at the capital stock that LAB and fused 1968 with it to the Lindener Gilde AG. 1988 were changed the name on Gilde brewery AG, under which also today still the Lindener special is brewed.

End of brewing in lime trees

Finally 1997 the brewing enterprise was then stopped in in the middle Lindens. The Gilde brewery AG shifted the production of the Lindener special on its principal firm at the Hildesheimer road. After Sudkessel and remainders of the brewery were sold, the area of the Lindener share brewery was made for the ground alike in August 2000. Today some terraced houses stand on the area.
