The Lincoln MKZ is a sport sedan of the luxury mark Lincoln belonging to Ford. The MKZ was called actually Lincoln Zephyr for model year 2006. After only a few months in production, Lincoln decided to change the name from Zephyr to MKZ, so that he agrees with Lincoln's new name regulation. The Zephyr was introduced for model year 2006 and competed on American Marks with BMW the 3er, the Mercedes Benz C-class and the Lexus IT.
The name Zephyr comes from a former Lincoln model, which was sold very successfully into the 1930ern. Although Lincoln intends to use in his new models only letter abbreviations instead of names the Zephyr name was revived.
