The Lincoln Mark of Series was a set of sogennaten "personnel Luxury Coupes", the luxury mark Lincoln belonging to Ford. All Lincoln Mark of models had a Roman number behind the trademark, which identified the generation of the vehicle. Also the Continentals from 1968 to 1985. A Lincoln Mark of the third generation for example had the Roman number of III behind the label name and was called therefore Lincoln Continental Mark III.

In the USA the Lincoln applies Mark as the embodiment of the American Into the 1970er years the Lincoln Mark was regarded as one of the finest vehicles in the United States. Its main competitor was the Cadillac Eldorado. The Lincoln Mark of V (1978-1980) is considered as one of the largest cars of all times. In the year 1980 Americas largest became however smaller, than result of several new laws concerning the fuel consumption of cars. The 7.5L V8 engine was replaced by a smaller 5.6L V8 engine. Because of their special value in the history of the American luxury cars, resale price for Lincoln Marks are relatively high with good preservation condition.

Production for the Lincoln Mark ended in model year 1998, because of sinking demand. In model year 2002 the production of the Cadillac Eldorado was stopped likewise and the chapter the American personnel Luxury Coupes was locked thereby.
