The life work time is the work time of a person during its life. Life work time and spare time should stand in a balanced relationship. The average life work time is the average value of the work time of a group of humans, e.g. humans of a country. Normally it begins with the training and ends with the transition to pension or by inability to work due to illness or by individual desire or other factors. The life work time is shortened by different causes. In addition belong military service, training, child education, unemployment, short-time work, decrease of the number of hours worked per week and others.

Pension

Frequently today the extension of the life work time is regarded as solution of the pension problem. Thus on a higher pension entrance age and an extension of the life work time is pushed is demanded. Pension and completion of the work have to do temporally only conditionally with one another.

For many, which are still able to work also in high age and want to work, withdrawing from the working life is a load.

Many, which became unemployed before beginning of pension, would work gladly.

Many, which did not receive a job after the school, would work likewise gladly.

The life work time is not evenly distributed over the life.

Work time models

There are different work time models.

• Regular firm work time with appropriate regular spare time (so far most dependent working premises in the industry).
• Distribution of the work time as required (traditionally particularly in the agriculture)
• Distribution of the work time after efficiency (gave suggestions to work and a "work time account" put on in times of higher efficiency longer, which is used up later. Also some models for shortened work time in the Vorruhestand worked according to this principle.)

Internationally

Today one assumes the life work time will again extend after the present drastic That is due to the age structure of the population.

Germany

As problematic it is regarded that in Germany straight property-trained very late rise only into the occupation and participate very late thus in the productive creation of value of the national economy. College graduates enter according to a study of the IW from the year 2006 only with 28 years into the occupation. In connection with in former times pension and expensive instruction system Germany limps to different countries in the productive life work time according to expert opinion thus afterwards.
