The activity lichens is

the regular Ineinanderschlingen of several strands from flexible material. The difference to weaving lies in the fact that when twisting - differently than when weaving - which are not right-angled supplied threads.

1. basket lichens: Manufacture from wattlework by Ineinanderschlingen of flexible material (basket, phloem, pasture, brushwood, Rattan)
2. twisting the hair to a Zopf
3. machine twisting from several threads to cords or braids, whereby one speaks usually at an even-numbered number of threads of a round network or a cord, with odd-number of a flat network or a braid. (see braiding machine)
4. also to so-called 3D-Geflechten with variable cross section outline.

whereby the principle is always a something similar.

Also in the people dance there are the Bandltanz in such a way specified, whereby the dancers hold a volume in each case and around a tree or a bar dance and so the volumes around this tree twist.

History

The history of the Flechtkunst goes back into the primeval times of mankind. It for one of the perhaps oldest handicrafts to hold, justifies itself in the fact that with it except the hands nearly no tools are used. Thus an unmistakable unique piece results from age-old handicraft technology with each Flechtobjekt.
