Liberalisation (v. lat.: libertas = liberty and/or liberalis = freely, generously) means the dismantling of national or social interferences and regulations.

political liberalisation

The dismantling of repressive functions of the state is called political liberalisation; often in the context of protection of minorities, human rights, prohibitions and the transformation and/or weakening of punitive measures uses. (Synonym to privatisation)

economic liberalisation

The term of the liberalisation in the economic context was again taken up after the Second World War by the OECD. At first liberalisation expressed only the dismantling of quantitative trade restrictions, primarily in the area at that time of the European Economic Community (EEC). Today the term generally stands for Deregulierung and privatisation.
