The Lhoist group is the world largest manufacturer of lime and products of dolomite. In Germany the entrepreneurial group Rhine lime, as well as LWB Refractories, Hilden ranks among Lhoist.

History

Lhoist, the son-in-law of Hippolyte Dumont, created 1924 the Lon Lhoist in Jemelle, Belgium, and 1926 the Fours et Chaux in Dugny sur Meuse, France.

Lhoist took part 1981 in Chemical Lime in Texas, transferred 1992 Certovy Schody to Tschechien, took part 1993 in RWK lime in Wuppertal Dornap, built for 1995 a work in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri, acquired 1996 the enterprise of faxes lime in Denmark and the lime burning plants in Bukowa and Opolwap in Poland, 1997 the Rheini limestone works in 2000 the lime burning plants Hindlow and Hartley in Great Britain, 2001 Balthazard & Cotte in France and 2002 the lime burning plants Gorazdze and Sabinow in Poland.
