The Industrielle Leopold Hoesch (* 13 January 1820 in "Â 21 April 1899 in created 1871 in Dortmund the iron and steel plant Hoesch AG, the later Westphalia hut.
On this establishment of an enterprise the Hoesch steel AG, one of the most important enterprises of the mining industry is based. The Hoesch steel AG busy 1964 34,000 humans in their enterprise.

- 13. January 1820: Leopold Hoesch is born in Following its study at the poly-technical school in Vienna it steps into the business of his uncle Eberhard Hoesch (which 1824 the so-called Puddelverfahren - a method of the iron smelting - on the Lendersdorfer hut introduced).

- 1. September 1871: Leopold Hoesch closes a contract with his four sons and nephews for the establishment of a steel plant in Dortmund Osterholz.
