Leonard Monheim (* 16. June 1830 in Aachen; "Â 23 January 1913 in Aachen) was a grocer and founder of the "Leonard Monheim AG".
After practical training years in Mainz and Marseille Leonard Monheim occurs 1853 as a partner the drug retail business of its father Johann Peter Josef Monheim in the house Monheim at the chicken market in Aachen. 1857 he takes over the business and introduces the selling of colonial goods and tropical fruits, as well as the production of chocolate by his own Chocolatier. The year 1857 is considered therefore as a year of the foundation plays the trump card to chocolate. 1868 begin Leonard Monheim with the machine production of chocolate. it establishes 1878 in Jakobstrasse 10 in Aachen a chocolate factory. he withdraws and hands themselves 1900 from the business the line over of the chocolate production its son Hermann Joseph Monheim during its son Mathias Monheim the colonial goods enterprise takes over. Leonard Monheim dies on 23 January 1913 in Aachen.
