The law for the protection of young workers (law for the protection of the working youth - JArbSchG) is a German law to the protection of working children and young people. It ranks among the laws of the social industrial safety.

The law for the protection of young workers limits the number of hours worked per week on 40 hours with a five-day week. If the work time at individual working-days is shortened, the work time can be extended on other days on maximally 8.5 hours ("§8). The minimum age is 15 years, for work in the agriculture and as a newspaper deliverer gives it however to exceptions. The work time is in principle limited to the period between 6.00 o'clock and 20,00 o'clock, it gives however a set of exceptions for baker's shops, restaurants, cultural meetings etc.

The law for the protection of young workers contains further regulations for the yearly minimum vacation and the occupation school attendance. The regulations of the law for the protection of young workers are not abdingbar, i.e. it cannot be deviated also during definition in the work contract from it. Offences against the JArbSchG are considered as irregularities. Who endangers or damages the health or the ability to work of the child, young person or growing up deliberately, a criminal offence commits 6 JArbschG after "§ 58 exp. 5 and/or exp. The JArbSchG is thereby part of the Nebenstrafrechts.

Also young people at the age of 14 years may work, however this may only two hours per day cover and may not not before the school be.
