LANXESS AG is a chemistry enterprise with seat in Leverkusen. 2005 from a spin off of the chemistry and polymer section of the Bavarian company developed here, in the special firmierten Bavarian chemicals and parts of Bavarian MaterialScience (ehem. Bavarian of polymer).

The roots of the enterprise hand the year of the foundation of Bavarian in the year 1863.

The name Lanxess is "more lancer" a thing from the two words (French for "on bring") and "success" (English for "success"). The LANXESS company is the seventh-largest quoted chemical concern in Europe (based on the conversion). In Germany the enterprise is on rank three. The society has an extensive Portfolio from the ranges special, basis and fine chemicals as well as polymers.

In the year 2006 Lanxess Restrukturierungsprogramm.Der executive committee under the presidency of Axel C started. Heitmann decided a reorientation of the particularly yield-weak Businesses unit (le) Styrenic Resins and Fine Chemicals.BU Fine chemicals into the solely responsible subsidiary company Saltigo was converted. The Dorlastan business was sold to the Japanese Asahi Kasei Fibers. ISL chemistry from which manufactures colouring pastes and special lacquers, was sold to Swiss Berlac AGaus Sissingen. Company structure

LANXESS covers 16 Businesses units, which group themselves into four segments:

Performance chemicals Functional chemicals (FCC), ion Exchange Resins (ION), Leather (LEA), material Protection (MPP), Rubber chemicals (RUC), PAPER (PAP), Textile processing chemicals (TPC), Rhine chemistry (RCH) Chemical Intermediates basic chemicals (BAC), Fine chemicals (FCH), Inorganic of pigment (IPG) engineering plastic Semi Crystalline Products (SCP), Styrenic Resins (STY) performance Rubber Butadiene Rubber (PBR), Butyl Rubber (BTR), Technical Rubber Products (TRP)

These Businesses units are supported again by 18 so-called Group Functions. A Group Function has advised function opposite the Businesses units and is quasi a Dienstleister in the own enterprise:

Lanxess is also represented over 50 societies at different locations in 18 countries. World-wide approx. 18,700 coworkers are busy with Lanxess (conditions 2006). For Germany the Lanxess Germany GmbH is responsible.

The most important locations are Leverkusen, Dormagen, bitter field, and Krefeld Uerdingen in Germany, Antwerp in Belgium, orange, Bushy park as well as Addyston in the USA, Sarnia in Canada, Zarate in Argentina and Wuxi in China. Besides further production locations in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, UK and the USA exist.

Strange things

In order to be able to compute the share index DAX correctly, Lanxess noted on 31 January 2005 for only one day in the DAX, which covered 31 values thereby for the first time in its history. On the next day the weighting of the nut/mother company Bavarian was then computed with the help of the closing price by Lanxess again.
