Lakshmi Narayan Mittal (* 15. June 1950 in Sadulpur, Rajasthan) be a Indian entrepreneur.

He comes from a Marwari family and buildup in poorest conditions. 1960 moved the family to Kolkata. Its father Mohan worked himself bit there upward. he bought a small steel melt to 1971. It sent son Lakshmi on the college. After the school he worked in the company. 1976 invested the father money into a marodes steel plant in Indonesia. It sent its son there, in order to reorganize it. And succeeded to this with considerable success. Such transactions repeated themselves and the Stahlwerksimperium Mittals expanded fast.

His company Mittal Steel company N.V. with registered place of business in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) is counted in tonnage the world-wide largest producer of steel. Mittal leads its Imperium as exempt private company. 90% of the shares of its company are in the family estate.

Mittal belongs according to Forbes with a fortune of 23.5 billion US-$ to the richest men of the world. 2004 became its fortune still on 6 billion estimated.

In the year 2002 it was complicated in England into a political scandal, which is called "Mittalgate" there. The British Prime Minister Tony Blair was involved. Its party, the labour party, received British Pound from Mittal a donation from two million. Later Blair intervened personally in favor of Mittals into the privatisation process of a Romanian steel concern. Mittal Steel received finally the addition.

Momentarily (May 2006) Mittal Steel offers 26 billion euro in the context of a hostile takeover for the turnover-largest steel concern of the world, the multinational Arcelor with company headquarters in Luxembourg.

The Stahlmagnat lives in London in Kensington Palace Gardens, is married with Usha and has two children (son Aditya and daughter Vanisha). Aditya is finance executive committee with Mittal Steel. Vanisha sits in the supervisory board. The wedding of its daughter in the year 2004, who was celebrated in the locks by Versailles, cost allegedly over 60 million dollar. It is member of the Foreign Investment Council in Kazakhstan, Investment Council in South Africa and in internationally the Iron & Steel of institutes is international it in the Exekutivkommitee. It is one of the directors of the Indian ICICI bank Limited and sits in the board of directors of the Kellogg School OF management in the United States. It possesses the diploma as Bachelor OF Commerce (Bakkalaureus) of the pc. Xaviers college (university) in Kolkata.
