Labello is a lip care pin of the company Beiersdorf AG. The name "Labello" developed for latin from the words "labium" (= lip) and "bellus" (= beautifully) and means "beautiful lips" thus in a general manner.
Labello is sold to that since 1909 under this registered trade mark by the Beiersdorf Co. AG and is thereby the oldest product this very day admitted Beiersdorf Co. marks. Developer of the lip care pin is Oskar Troplowitz.
The innovative turning case housing was remarkable, from which the Labello is unscrewed to the use, which finds until today with many Lippenstiften and other Kosmetikprodukten application.
Today Labello is in Central Europe the synonym and term monopoly on lip care and in many European countries market leaders in this range.
Labello is also in different variants available, for example with sun protection factor. The product gives it also with various fruit flavours ("taste"). The pin has then the color of the respective fruit.
Some skin physicians advise against the use of the Labello. The reason is that the pin makes the lips supple for a short time, with the time the lips however still more drains. Thus the contrary effect one obtain. From this reason the lips could also become "addicted" after the pin. The user needs the pin ever more frequently. The thesis of the "Labello craze" is disproved meanwhile however, it concerns only a habit. The central problem is however that most care pins contain as most important contents materials of waxes (paraffin, Bienenwachs) as well as cheap industrial oils. These put like a film on the lips, to which so however neither fat nor humidity are supplied; only a brief pseudo effect adjusts itself. In the dry lips nothing changes. In addition, there are products with other contents materials, for example on basis of Sheabutter, which actually maintain.
