The family Kuffner was a Jewish family from Lundenburg (Czech: Breclav) in (today: Czech republic).

Ancestor gentleman of the house was ouple Kuffner (gest. 1775 Lundenburg), from whose marriage with Rachel the two sons wolf and Kuffner originated. The sons, grandchild and great-grandchild of these two brothers played an outstanding role in Austrian restaurant history. Ignaz Kuffner bought the brewery in Ottakring around the year 1850 (today the 16. District in Vienna) and built it to one of the highest performance breweries - Hungarian monarchy out. Wolf Kuffners grandchild, Ignaz Kuffner (since 1878 Ignaz of noble from Kuffner, geb. 22 April 1822 Lundenburg, gest. 23. March 1882 Ottakring) was a mayor and honour citizen of Ottakring. Its son, Moriz of Kuffner (geb. 30. 1854 Ottakring with Vienna, gest. 5. March 1939 Zurich) justified the today still existing Kuffner observatory in Vienna. The family possessed extensive house possession to 1938 in Vienna and a large art collection. Three members of the family were nobilitiert:

  • Ignaz Kuffner, and owner of factory, knight of the Franz Josef medal, mayor and honour citizen of Ottakring, founder of several institutes for humanity; Aristocracy with "noble of" according to Allerh. Hand letter from 11 April 1878, diploma of 6. May 1878.
  • Hermann (deer) Kuffner, property and owner of factory in Lundenburg, knight of the Franz Josef medal, president of the Oeconomie sugars and white spirit factory AG to Dioszegh in Hungary, honour citizen of the cities Lundenburg, old person market and Kostitz. Austrian aristocracy with "noble of" according to Allerh. Hand letter from 3 August 1900, diploma from 11 October 1900.
  • Karl Kuffner, large-scale manufacturer, Hungarian ennobling and with "de ", Budapest 13. May 1896, Hungarian Baronat 7 December 1904.
