Dr. h.c. Klaus Tschira (* 7 December 1940 in Freiburg in mash gau) is a German entrepreneur.

Together with Hans Werner Hector, Dietmar Hopp, Hasso Plattner and Claus Wellenreuther he is one the founder of the software enterprise SAP AG in barrier village. Since 1998 it is member of the SAP supervisory board.

After the study of physics at the University of Karlsruhe he worked from 1966 to 1972 as a system consultant at IBM in Mannheim.

Since its retreat from the SAP events of the day Tschira is active as and promoters.

1995 it created the Klaus Tschira donation, in order to promote the natural sciences, computer science and mathematics and to arouse also the interest of the public in this fan. Donation seat is the mansion Bosch in Heidelberg, the former domicile of the chemistry Carl Bosch.

1997 took place the establishment of the EML - European Media Laboratory, an institute for applied computer science, likewise with seat in the mansion Bosch, Heidelberg.

As thanks for its support with the development of the small satellite DIVA the Asteroid 13028 was designated after it. In April 2000 discovered small planet "KlausTschira" circles in an orbit between Mars and Jupiter around the sun.

Since 2001 there is further training course for scientists. They are to promote the co-operation of scientists and journalists. Also pupil and teacher projects are promoted, as well as prices for youth software assign.
