Khizr, called Khair ad-DIN (or Chair ad DIN and/or Chaireddin) of the Christian Europeans Barbarossa, Turkishly: Hizir, Barbaros Hayreddin Pasa, (* around 1467 or around 1475 in Mytilene Midilni) on Lesbos; "† 4 July 1546 in Istanbul) was a osmanischer Korsar in the western Mediterranean, Herrscher of Algiers and Kapudan pasha of the high gate, one called it the fright of the Christian navigation.
