Katjes is a sweet goods enterprise in Emmerich for the production of fruit rubbers.

This enterprise was created 1950 by Klaus Fassin. Before Fassin had to manufacture 1910 the prescription for the production of licorices of its father Xaver Fassin gotten and begun in the small framework Therefore the company name Katjes comes, because this term is the Netherlands word for small .

1971 were then the birth year of a popular product of Katjes, i.e. the Yoghurt Gums, the first fruit rubbers with genuine yogurt and fruits. Since beginning of 2000 they became more well-known by a Werbekampagne with Heidi Klum.

However in Germany the products of Katjes sell themselves over 600.000 times (per (Conditions: 2001).

In the middle of November 2004 had won Katjes a law case against which had criticized in vain that Katjes offers the fruit rubbers with the reference "without fat", although the products consist to 75 per cent of sugar.

A law case Haribos against Katjes was decided at the end of November 2004 from the civil court of the regional court Duesseldorf in favor of of Katjes. Haribo had tried with the reference to the trademark law to let the Yoghurt Gums of Katjes forbid. A comparable product under a similar name should be brought on the market. The judges decided however, Katjes had let normal register the mark and thus was permitted the sales of the Yoghurt Gums under the past name.
