Kapitulant in the Prussian army a voluntarily longer serving soldier was called. Basis was "the law over the obligation to the war service "from 9 September 1814. After completion of the regular obligation service (two to three years) the Kapitulant delivered its freiwillige reenlistment (surrender). The service had to be extended around at least one year, was usual up to 12 years. The Kapitulant was further-obligated first with the rank reached last. From the circle of the time zeitfreiwilligen out prefers the NCOs of the regiment carried. Around 1850 each Prussian line infantry battalion held 30 permanent posts ready for Kapitulanten.
