Josef Schwammberger (* 14 February 1912 in Brixen, South Tyrol; "† 3 December 2004 in the prison hospital Hohenasperg in Ludwigsburg) was in the time of the national socialism

In the Second World War Schwammberger of at the end of was August 1942 until spring 1944 commander in different SS-Zwangsarbeiterlagern in the district Krakau. From 1948 to 1987 Schwammberger was volatile, 1987 it from Argentina to the Federal Republic of Germany was delivered. For its seizure the country Baden-Wuerttemberg had paid scarcely 500,000 DM.

During the nearly one year's process from 1991 to 1992 Schwammberger always denied it accused crime. It granted only the Ghetto A in the camp Przemysl to have led. To 18. May 1992 he was condemned by the regional court Stuttgart to a lifelong imprisonment, which he served in Mannheim.

In August 2002 the regional court Mannheim rejected a premature dismissal because of the special weight of the debt. Schwammberger mordete according to court decision arbitrarily from race hatred opposite Jews and thereby particularly cruelly acted.

Its wife Schwammberger died 2003 at the age of 87 years in Argentina.
