John Ramsay McCulloch (also M'Culloch, Mac Culloch, MacCulloch, spr. mack kollock) (* 1. March 1789 on the island Whithorn; "Â 11 November 1864 in London) was an English political economist.
McCulloch studied 1864 in London than tester in Edinburg, became 1828 professor at the University of London, stepped later into the administration and died with the Stationery Office.
Its two Hauptwerke are the repeatedly presented and also several times "Dictionary OF translated into German commerce and commercial navigation" (Lond. 1830, newest expenditure. 1882) and the "Principles OF political economy" (that. 1849, newest expenditure. 1885). In addition it wrote: "Dictionary geographical, statistical and historical" (Lond. 1842; new expenditures., with additives of Martin, 1866, 4 Bde.); "Descriptive and statistical account OF the British Empire" (2. Aufl. 1854, 2 Bde.); "Treatises and essay", absent-minded essays (1853); "On metallic and PAPER money and bank" (1858; German of Bergius and Tellkampf, Leipz. 1859) among other things
