John Michael Bishop (* 22 February 1936 in York, Pennsylvania, the USA) is an US-American Virologe.

it received 1989 together with Harold E. Varmus the Nobelpreis for physiology or medicine "for its discovery of the zellularen origin of the potentially carcinogenic so-called Retroviren".
