The Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE) is the largest stock exchange of Africa and is considered as one of the ten the largest world. It is in Johannesburg, in the quarter sand clay/tone. 2003 led the JSE about 472 companies, had a Marktkapitalilsierung of 158 billion euro and a monthly Handelsvolumen of 5.5 billion euro.
The discovery of gold in Witwaterrand 1886 led to the establishment of many mine companies and Finanzdienstleistern, whereby soon the need for a stock exchange rose.
The Johannesburg Exchange & Chambers company was created by the Londoner businessman Benjamin Minors Woollan, from which on 8 November 1887 the JSE developed.
Also sometimes over the years the stock exchange often moved and had to act because of lack of space on the road. 1963 became it member of the Federation internationally Bourses de Valeurs (FIBV).
