Johann Ernst Elias Bessler (* 1680 in Zittau; "† 30 November 1745), artist name Orffyreus, was an advisor of the land count Karl von Hessen-Kassel and stated at its time four functional Perpetuum mobiles to have publicly demonstrated.

Bessler had the habit to destroy its machines for different advanced reasons before they could be examined in detail in each case. This very day there is a fan municipality, which believes firmly in the fact that Besslers Perpetuum mobile presents really functioned and those again its works. Its trailers state likewise that Besslers machines were examined intensively to its time by specialists, who could not find reference points for fraud.

The artist name Orffyreus is interesting. ""One codes the name Bessler by means of the primitive ROT13-Verfahrens, then one receives Orffyre. The attached letters "US" should give latin a painting to the name.
