Sir James Paget (* 11 January 1814 in Great Yarmouth; "Â 30 December 1899 in London) was an English surgeon and pathologist. It is particularly for the naming of a bone illness and the inflammatory changes of the chest with a Mammakarzinom, which disease Paget well-known. Together with Virchow it is considered as a founder of the modern pathology.
It was one of 18 children, from whom only eight reached the adult age. To the attendance of the Charterhouse School it planned to go first to the navy, decided however five-year teachings with the surgeon Charles Costerton to accept. it changed 1834 to the Londoner pc. Bartholomew's hospital, where it acquired itself for lack of financial means its knowledge by the company of the patient attendance of Dr. Peter Latham. Also it learned to be able to consult German around the anatomical text books of the German-language Anatomen as aids for its Autopsien accomplished in the spare time.
1834 he discovered the parasite tri China spiralis as a causer of the Trichinose. to 1837 it received an employment, it brought in annually and began its first scientific articles to write. At a corpse it infected with typhoid fever and almost deceased themselves to it. 1844 he married his Mrs. Lydia. Its most well-known works are Lectures on Tumours (1851) and Lectures on Surgical Pathology (1853). 1858 he was ordered to the Surgeon in Ordinary for the prince by Wales, 1875 took over he the presidency of the Royal college OF Surgeons.
The funeral celebration in the Westminster Abbey was held by his son, bishop von Oxford. After it the James Paget Healthcare NHS Trust and the James Paget hospital is designated in Norfolk.
