Jacques Lucien Monod (* 9 February 1910 in Paris, "† 31. May 1976 in Cannes) was a French biochemist.

Life

Monod was the son of a French painter of huguenot descent and its American wife from Milwaukee. 1917 established itself the family in Southern France. There Monod completed the High School in Cannes and decreased/went back 1928 with 18 years to Paris.

During its study George Teissier, Lwoff Boris Ephrussi and Louis Rapkine were its teachers. 1931 terminated Monod its study and went for some time to the Californian institutes OF Technology (late Caltech).
