Jack Tramiel (* 1929 in Poland; actually Idek Tramielski) is a American-Polish entrepreneur and computer manufacturer.

1944 it is kidnapped by the national socialists in the concentration camp Auschwitz. At the end of of 1944 it is brought to Hanover, in order to work there as forced laborers at the building new concentration camp. 1945 it is freed from the Americans. November 1947 it emigriert into the USA. It accepts the name Jack Tramiel. In the spring 1948 it joins the American army and learns there during the repair repairing various office equipment.

1952 it separates from the army and works from now on as a repairer, due to its relations also for the army. 1953 he becomes American citizen and buys a shop into the Bronx - Commodore portable Typewriter. It repairs further mainly typewriters. 1955 it creates the Commodore Business Machines international (CBM) in Toronto. The establishment took place in Canada, in order to go around certain import restrictions of the USA.

it brings Commodore to 1962 to the stock exchange. Into the early 1970er years introduces it with Commodore the production of electronic pocket calculators. 1976 it buys up the company MOS Technologies for Commodore, at that time one of the most important manufacturers of microprocessors. The most important products, which it brings in the company on the way, are the Commodore PET 2001, VC20 and the C64.13. It must separate January 1984 with Commodore; he buys thereupon the Atari Inc., which is because of the video game Crashs (see history of the video games) in financial needs.

Together with its sons Leonard, SAM and Garry he led Atari 12 years long. Then to seize after some very successful home computer systems and the attempt with the Atari Jaguar in the play console market (again) foot the Atari Inc. fused on 30 June 1996. and the non removable disk manufacturer JTS Corp.
