Calico Jack Rackham ("Â 17 November 1720 in Santiago de la Vega, Jamaica) was a 18. Century and led his name of the color-glad Calicokleidung, which it carried. Calico is a cotton. Nowadays it is above all well-known, since to its crew the two most famous female Piraten belonged, Anne Bonny and Mary READ. Partly also John Rackham mentioned.
Rackham was quarter master on the English warship HMS Neptune under the command of captain Charles Vane. When itself Vane refused attacking a French ship the crew was so applied that it meuterte and appointed Rackham the leader. Rackham turned around on the place, attacked the French ship and defeated it.
After this victory and beaconed of the captured wealth on board the gekaperten ship Rackham of its crew suggested that they should dedicate themselves from now on the Piraterie. Possibly the appropriate resolution of the crew was favoured by the shade of the Meuterei, which over all heads hung.
Later Rackham accepted the offer of a royal Pardon and segelte to the coast of new Providence. At this time Rackham met a married woman named Anne Bonny, and fell in love with it. Rackham was vernarrt into it and equipped it with large parts of its booty. It followed then the crew of captain Burgess, which was even an earlier Pirat and now Kaperfahrer, which through-crossed the Karibik on the search for Spanish ships.
When the affair between Rackham and Anne Bonny admits became, the governor of new Providence threatened to out-whip Anne because of adultery. Instead of leaving Anne at the pillory, the pair decided to set up a crew and steal a Schaluppe. Since one feared, the crew could refuse, with a woman together to sails (women on board bring pitch, allegedly), disguised themselves Anne as a man with the name Adam Bonny. It became an estimated crew member and worked satisfactorily in numerous successful sea-engagements.
To some successes sent of the Bahamas the heavily armed ship, in order to catch it. Rackham and some its men were forced to take flight. Later they were taken prisoner by a Spanish ship, could escape however. On the escape around Jamaica they captured some Fischerboote and a Schaluppe. Thereupon the governor decided to catch Rackham and set the captain Barnet on him, which finally took Rackham prisoner.
It is said, Rackham would have met an agreement with the governor, after which he would surrender, if Anne and another Piratin, Mary READ, grace were granted. Whether this is true or not, which could escape both women the Galgen, by giving to be more schwanger.
Rackham and its men were finally placed in Santiago de la Vega on Jamaica on 16 November 1720 before court, found for guilty and hung on the following day.
