Industrial safety concerns itself with safe conditions of work (short term effect; e.g. helmet obligation, Sicherheitsschuhe etc.), the health protection (long-term = chronic as well as briefly arising = acute effect; e.g. dangerous materials, noise etc.) and the personal protection (e.g. maternity protection, protection of children and young people)) with the work. Under industrial safety (English: OSH: Occupational Safety and Health) one understands the sum of all precautions and activities, which have the protection of the life and the health of humans with their vocational activity as a goal. In Austria this area is designated more accurately than employee protection and/or employee protection.
The industrial safety in Austria is substantially certain by the fundamental guidelines of the European Union (as also in many other European countries). On these guidelines most of the national industrial safety laws are based and - regulations, like e.g. the employee law for the protection (ASchG).
