Irving L. Weissman (* 21 October 1939 in Great of case, Montana) is an US-American physician.

Weissmans grandfather immigrated around 1910 from the Ukraine to the USA. Irving Weissman buildup in Montana. It made first for 1961 its Bachelor OF Science at the Montana State college, 1965 attained a doctorate it in Stanford.

Weissman leads Institut for cancer research and main cell biology at the Stanford university. It researches in the area blood-cell and brain-cell-forming main cells and over the influence of main cells on the formation of diseases such as cancer and leukaemia. He discovered 1991 that all human blood cells come out from certain main cells.

Weissman is involved, among other things in several Biotech companies SyStemix, StemCells and Celtrans.
