The iron route is an area in three-landhits a corner Lower Austria, upper Austria and Steiermark. It includes beside the Eisenwurzen also still places between front mountain and Niklasdorf. Historical center is the steirische ore mountain, whose economic meaning coined/shaped the surrounding region in the past. The region was suggested by the State of Austria meanwhile with the UNESCO as world cultural heritage.

The Austrian iron route can be arranged according to Lands of the Federal Republic, it covers the following member municipalities:
