Internationally the Brotherhood OF Teamsters (ITB) (German about: International brother shank of the driving people), briefly only "Teamsters" mentioned, is the trade union of the transport workers and thus the largest single trade union of the USA and Canada.

They have at present approximately 1,4 millions contribution-paying members and 400,000 pensioners and belong thereby also to the largest single trade unions world-wide.

Initially the "Teamster" was only one trade union for Lastkraftwagenfahrer, expanded however to the general transport worker trade union to inside into the food branch and is thus e.g. also the responsible trade union with the logistics giant UPS.

The trade union belongs today to the group of trade unions of CHANGEs tons win, when they left the former roof federation "AFL-CIO" with some other trade unions 2005. In it to that extent a certain historical irony lies, since this happened under the presidency of James P. Hoffa, whose father Jimmy Hoffa had ensured as a president still by force that a "Teamsters" - group not of the AFL to at that time still independent CIO changed.
