The international Chamber of Commerce (English internationally Chamber OF Commerce, franz. Chambre de Commerce internationally; ICC) an organization, with secretariat in the French capital Paris, is short which supports the world-wide trade and globalization. It defends the economic interests, prosperity and growth of the world economy. As internationally acting organization it has direct entrance to the governments by national committees.

The German committee of the international Chamber of Commerce has its seat in Berlin, the Austrian in Vienna and that Swiss in Zurich. The ICC maintain an office seat at the world trade organization in Geneva and an arbitral tribunal in Paris.

History

The former French minister of economics and first president Etienne supported 1919 substantially the establishment of the international Chamber of Commerce to open with the goal the markets for trade and investments. Initially the organization consisted of Belgium, Great Britain, France, Italy and the United States.

As head office the members Paris selected and would install there for 1923 a court (international Court OF Arbitration) with competence for arbitration.

A sphere of interest was appropriate for the monitoring of reparation payments and war debts in that. The international commercial clauses INCOTERMS discharged the members 1936. After the outbreak of the Second World War all activities were shifted into neutral Sweden.

Beginning of the early 1980ern created that ICC three offices to the with seat in London. The internationally maritime office supervises Piraterie and other relevant questions over criminality on the sea. For money laundering the Counterfeiting Intelligence office is responsible, the Financial Investigation office for other fraud cases in the financial sector.

In the meantime the international Chamber of Commerce has far over 100 members.
