Integrated environmental protection is one of two avoidance technologies in environmental protection. It reduces the environmental impact, as more pollution free products and production procedures are used. Examples are water-soluble lacquers or in-process water recycling.
Contrary to the end OF pipe technology is however more difficult this measure to convert: On the one hand certain limit values with this kind could not be fallen below by environmental protection. On the other hand it is also more complex and more expensive to make the Produktionsablauf more pollution free than beginning simply at the end of the process reduction method - although a smaller consumption would mean also a higher efficiency.
This technology nevertheless becomes generally accepted so recent empirical studies of the ZEW also in Germany slowly. In the year 2003 Germany exhibited the smallest portion in integrated environmental protection of the sieved examined OECD countries with 57,5 per cent, while Japan with 86,5 per cent is because of the point.
