Inputinput input per service unit (MIPS) represents a fundamental measure for the estimation of the environmental impact of a product. Here any energy and material stream are seized, which are used within the life cycle of a product or a service. MIPS is a quantitative measure for the nature employment of a product or a service. The material employment (material input) is proven thereby in SI-conformal units, like e.g. kg and referred to the service unit (service unit), like e.g. a cubic meter umbauter area.

MIPS house

Mipshaus is a frequently used term for a building resources-optimized after the MIPS concept. It describes a resources standard of a building and is thereby the advancement of the energy standards already existing for buildings like the low-energy building or the passive house. Contrary to this standards an evaluation is made not alone after the energy consumption in the utilization phase, but extended by the manufacture phase and the later retreating longwall system. Thus the view is extended to the entire life cycle of a building. Basis of the evaluation is thereby not only the energy consumption but complete nature consumption. On the basis of the thesis that with a production process developing the materials are hardly visible very variously and in your effect and reciprocal effect with the Mipshausstandard therefore an evaluation after the quantity of the assigned materials made. (View of input instead of view of output). The assigned materials are divided thereby in only five categories. Bio tables of materials (regenerating materials); Abioti materials (not regenerating materials); Soil; Air; Water.

"Resources-efficiently" is a building if by building, maintenance, use and disposal if possible little nature is used. A beginning the resources efficiency to increase can consist e.g. also of saving by well implemented heat damming measures at the building-comprehensive covering heating energy. Also to the energy supply with the production of the sources of energy in the natural cycles one intervenes. Thus also the production of the insulating materials "costs" nature. Here it is to be considered whether by a measure in the sum nature could be saved (see LCA). Is direct only rarely, i.e. without a more exact analysis to recognize how much material was taken up directly and indirectly for the production of a certain product - it is not to be regarded to the product. Most important requirement to a "Mipshaus" is therefore the consideration of the life-cycle-far resources efficiency of "from the cradle to the Bahre" already during the planning phase.
