Information monopoly means the monopolyistic controlling of the entrance to information, which is necessary for the free forming of an opinion.
Signs for an information monopoly are the concentration of the ownership structure of important mass media with only one owner (and/or in hands of several that however information oligopoly would have to be called), the suppression of information passing on by censorship or by cutting the technical infrastructure, which is necessary for the free information spreading.
