The Icelandic stock exchange ICEX (English: Iceland stick Exchange; Icelandic: slands) was created in the year 1985 as Joint venture of several banks and brokers on initiative of the Icelandic central bank. First at the ICEX only Icelandic government loans were acted. The stock broking began 1990 and developed rapidly. At present enterprises note banks, trade, fishery, transportation and insurance mainly from the ranges at of Iceland stock exchange. Since the Icelandic economy is very small, the quoted enterprises at the ICEX are relatively small, the Handelsvolumen accordingly small. In addition the ICEX is the smallest stock exchange of Western Europe.

The guidance index of the Icelandic stock exchange is the ICEX 15.
