Hyalithglas (also Hyalitglas, lava glass) is in early 19. Century in developed obscure, red or black stone glass, which had the basalt commodity from Wedgwood to the model and usually with gold painting (particularly Chinoiserien) one decorated.
The black Hyalithglas was developed in the Buquoy glassworks in Georgenthal or silver mountain and produced starting from 1817. Sealing wax-red Hyalith (Rotwel) became already in 17. Century produces.
The Hyalithglas was used except as Zierglas for the production of bottles, in which photo-sensitive substances (for example medicines) should be kept.
In a variant Hyalith is manufactured by merging iron cinder, basalt or lava with two per cent of coal powders and five to six per cent of Knochenasche or tin oxide. The other method exists in the strong dye of usual glass with much cobalt, manganese, nickel and ferric oxide.
