Hugo Richard (* 17. March 1879 in Sehma; "† 8. May 1945 in Dresden) was an entrepreneur and celanese producer in Pirna.

He came as a member of an entrepreneur family from Sehma/ore mountains to Pirna, in order to produce celanese there.

It began 1908 with a test range for celanese in Pirna on the area of a former drilling place at the city boundary to Grosssedlitz (Heidenau). 1909 were built a larger production plant. it brought the first useful viscous oaths to 1910 on the market. 1920 took place the firm anniversary. (As the purchase of a Zwirnerei applies by Christiane Sophie in Sehma in the ore mountains in the year 1820.) 1924/25 were established a second work in Pirna. 1913 it was already the largest employer of the city; occasionally employed 50% the employee Pirnas. The high point was reached 1928, when it had 5688 workers and employees.

1920 were converted the enterprise into a OHG and 1927 into a corporation (AG), at which sole owner remained. Beginning of the 1930er years worsened the financial situation by the world economic crisis. The celanese work was still largest employer, although it did not even have 1932 with approx. 2200 persons employed more half from in former times. 1927-1930 did not obtain the company a profit; from 1931 to 1933 the plants even stood still. 1936 paid the AG for the first time a dividend. Because of the difficulties took over the banks the AG.

The anger of the workers' movement was directed against personally; it was put as an exploiter. 1935 he got difficulties with the National Socialist ruling powers. In the future to be influence on its work diminished; it was pushed from the company outside. Even entering the work was continuously forbidden to it only occasionally, then. died to 8. May 1945 at the end of war during a bicycle travel to the work.

On the same day also the Red Army marched into Pirna and production adjusted, however only 18 days. Then the enterprise was first again taken up, until the work was dismantled and transported into the Soviet Union. Later it was again rebuilt at the same place in Pirna and continued to operate for many decades. The high point of production was reached 1977. The celanese work existed still until to the political turn 1989, until it ended to 1993 by bankruptcy. It was completed, because it was not competitive and because production was environmental and injurious to health.

In the GDR time "opponent" enjoyed, the worker leader Siegfried the larger fame. In Pirna after the turn on the former work area a road was designated after Hugo
