The hostage drama at the Norrmalmstorg occurred of 23. until 27 August 1973 in the credit banks at that time at the place Norrmalmstorg in Stockholm. The drama was one the first over which the Swedish media live reported. It contributed the name Stockholm syndrome to Clark Olofssons celebrity and afterwards gave the psychiatrist of Nile Bejerot of a survival strategy of the hostages.

The process of the drama

The robbery began, when January Erik went "to Janne "Olsson, a prisoner on free course, into the credit bank at the Norrmalmstorg in the city centre from Stockholm. The police was called and went into the bank. With a shooting one of the two policemen was hurt.

Olsson took four persons as a hostage (Birgitta Lundblad, Elizabeth Oldgren, Kristin Enmark and Sven and demanded that in completely Sweden well-known criminals Clark Olofsson from the prison should be brought to him. In addition it demanded three million crowns, the bulletproof west, helmets, two weapons and an escape vehicle.

The bank robbers and their hostages barricaded themselves then in the bank. On 26 August the police bored a hole into the roof, by which it introduced first a camera. On 28 August by this hole gas was introduced into the bank and the drama thereby was terminated. Nobody came thereby to damage.

At two opportunities telephoned Olofsson, Olsson or one to the hostage with the Prime Minister at that time Olof palm.
