Hornby Railways is the prominent model course manufacturer in Great Britain. Firm history decreases/goes back in the year 1901, when the franc Hornby received a patent on its Meccano Metallbaukasten to reasons.

History

Hornby, at that time as Meccano Ltd. admits, brought its first railway, a clockwork course in the nominal size 0, in the year 1920 on the market. An electrical course followed 1925; it was operated first with alternating voltage, changed over 1929 then to DC voltage.

Between 1927 and 1929, Hornby offered its clockwork courses both in the United States, and in Great Britain.
