History

The learned engraver and Formenbauer Fritz Honsel (1888-1964) created the company "aluminum of works Gebr. Honsel" in the year 1908 in Werdohl for the manufacturing of Essbestecken from aluminum. In the year 1911 the enterprise moved to Versevoerde, at the same time developed a factory in Eveking and the beginning of the manufacturing in ingot pouring. During the First World War (1917) the company in Meschede built a new work. In the year 1919 an operating extension took place via the building of an aluminium rolling mill. On the high point of the postwar boom (1922) the company was converted into a corporation. In the course of a concentration process it came 1925 to the shifting of the company headquarters and the majority of production to Meschede. There now also aluminum scrap iron was again prepared and manufactured assembly parts. With the upswing of the automobile industry Honsel became an important approaching down taking for prominent automobile producers. In the year 1929 the work in Meschede was extended by a pressure foundry and 1936 took place the building of a blooming roll. The plant department Werdohl changed into the same year into the possession of Otto Honsel and became independent thereby. During the Second World War the work in Meschede for the need of the military to it produced 1945 before end of war was briefly destroyed. In the time of the "Wirtschaftswunders" the enterprise could tie to the Vorkriegstradition as automobile suppliers. Into the 1960er and 70's took place the establishment of further divisions. Into the 1990er years acquired the enterprise different enterprises at home and abroad. In the year 1999 the transformation of the AG took place into a GmbH.
