The high country was a catholic magazine appearing from 1903 to 1941 and again from 1946 to 1971, which was published by Carl Muth. The circle of the authors was interdenominational. The magazine was often critically by the church hierarchy. 1941 tried to publish the high country an article of Joseph Berne-hard, which attacked the national socialism at least hidden. This attack did not escape however the censorship, whereby the high country was forbidden immediately.

In November 1946 the magazine was again-created. Starting from 1966 she was called new high country. 1971 adjusted it their appearance.
