Hertha Firnberg (* 18 September 1909 in Vienna, "† 14 February 1994 in Vienna) was a first social-democratic minister

Firnberg was 1959-1963 member of the Upper House of Parliament and 1963-1983 member of the national council. 1967 followed it pink yoke man as a chairman of the socialist women and held this position until 1981.

After the socialist party of Austria 1971 the absolute majority in the Austrian national council succumbed for the first time had, Firnberg first to the minister without Portfolio to create but with the order the new Ministry for science and research ordered. She was after Grete Rehor only a second minister in the history of Austria. Into its term of office as a minister (1971-1983) the university reform fell 1975 (university organization law 1975).

1983, after the had again lost the absolute majority, withdrew itself Firnberg from the policy.
