Hermann Priess (* 24. May 1901 in Marnitz; "Â 2. March 1983 in Ahrensburg) was a highly decorated upper group leader of the weapon SS in the Second World War.
After Priess had served 12 years in the realm resistance, he occurred 1934 the SS. There it was as an artilleryman assigned and kommandierte in west campaign 1940 the SS-artillery-regiment. This befehligte it also in the Russia campaign.
It was from 26 February 1943 by 26 April 1943 and from 22 October 1943 by 20 June 1944 commander of the SS-tanks (infantryman) - division "Totenkopf". On 30 October 1944 he took over the command of the Ith SS-Panzerkorps "body banner" and led this corps during the Ardennenoffensive.
Hermann Priess was condemned after the war because of war crime (Malmedy massacre) to 20 years detention, begnadigt later and 1954 from the detention to dismiss.
