Hercules Graphics Card (HGC) is 1982 a developed computer diagram map of the US-American company Hercules, who became by its popularity second indicating and pool of broadcasting corporations beside the IBM standards a MDA, a CGA and a EGA.

It was common in the center of the 1980er years very much and supported text and diagram with 720 348 pixels with 1 bit per pixel. In the text mode it was compatible to the MDA standard and supported two intensity stages for the character representation. The diagram mode was not supported however by the BIOS "IBM-compatible "computer, which forced to the development of sophistiated recognition routines. The HGC was for the enterprise in TTL Monochrom monitors planned, which became green usually with, amber-colored, later increasingly white ("PAPER white ") phosphors equipped was.

The old IBM standards were completely replaced approximately starting from 1990 by the VGA maps.

In addition, the Hercules map was later still gladly used, in order to attach two monitors to a PC, there the diagram page base address with "0x0b000" (in hexadecimals) lay, contrary to "0x0a000" with newer color display. Therefore the map could be operated at the same time e.g. with another EGA or VGA Grafikkarte or served than basis map for systems, which were equipped with TIGA Grafikbeschleunigern. Some programs recognized the diagram map and use them for the expenditure of additional information, e.g. within the range CAD or for debugging.

The company Hercules produced later also color diagram maps. 1999 were bought up it by the Guillemot corporation.
