Herbert Werner Quandt (* 22. June 1910 in Pritzwalk; "Â 2 June 1982 in Kiel) was a German Industrieller from the family Quandt, son of the Industriellen Quandt and half brother of Harald Quandt.
By an eye suffering impaired, he had adjusted himself early to become active in the agriculture. As object of its working the property Severin acquired by the father was intended with Parchim. In the year 1927 his older brother Helmut deceased however suddenly. Herbert Quandt occurred therefore in place of its brother the entrepreneur activity of its father also.
After the early death of the nut/mother there was in particular the journeys abroad with its father, which coined/shaped him further. Quandt had ascended in the meantime to one of the most successful entrepreneurs in Germany. It was main the accumulator industry (Varta), in which it was extensively prominently active. For Herbert Quandt became soon a technical training necessarily. He spent among other things several months as a trainee in the USA. Into this development inside the years of the Nazi rule and the Second World War came. In the post-war period there were capabilities in West Germany for and Herbert Quandt only.
After the death of the father 1954 Herbert inherited and its half brother Harald Quandt a conglomerate of firm participation, among other things at the accumulator factory AG (depr.), late VARTA, BMW and the today's Altana AG. In particular the spectacular assumption of the supremacy with BMW 1959, with which the assumption was prevented by Daimler Benz, was regarded as large success.
Since death Herbert Quandts 1982 play his widow, who third wife Johanna Quandt, as well as its youngest children Susanne Klatten, after which brothers Albrecht the wealthiest German, and Stefan Quandt a quiet, but crucial role with the administration of Herbert Quandts share in an estate.
