Sir (Frederick) Henry Royce (* 17. March 1863 in Alwalton, Huntingdonshire; "† 22 April 1933) was a pioneer of the auto+'s building; together with Charles Stewart of roll it created the enterprise Rolls-Royce.

Royce came as a fifth child of its parents to the world. Its father James Royce had leased a mill from the anglikanischen church. 1867 separated the family, James went with its two youngest sons, under it also Henry, to London, where he already died 1872 at the Hodgkin illness. Thereupon Henry had to work as newspaper boy and Telegrafenbote. With 14 years it began training in the Lokomotivwerken of the Great Northern Railway in Petersborough. Later it changed to a machine tool company in Leeds, to it to the Electric Lighting and power Generating company in London. 1884 it becomes unemployed by bankruptcy.

With the electrical engineer Ernest Claremont it creates an electrical work in Manchester. Royce builds door bells, lamp holders, direct current generators and electric motors. The break-through of this company succeeds, when electric motors are used instead of steam engines as drive for cranes. Starting from 1894 gantry cranes are built and the company is converted into a corporation.

Already at this time Royce was seriously ill. Its physician recommends exits at fresh air to it. For this it creates itself De Dion Quadricycle - a mixture from car and motorcycle on.

Its first car was 10 HP of strong two-cylinders of the company Decauville. It was incorrect and Royce decided to build its own car which admits as Royce became - three copies were built, from which none is received. Charles of roll saw one away and united with Royce, in order to create Rolls-Royces.

After its death the enterprise modified the color of the letters "RR" for the indication of the mourning in the Rolls-Royce character durably from red in black.
