Heinrich northhope (* 6 January 1899 in Hildesheim; "† 12 April 1968) was a German manager. After the mechanical engineering study to the TH Berlin Charlottenburg he transferred 1929 the line of the technical department with the Adam OPEL AG to Ruesselsheim. During the Second World War it led the OPEL truck work in Brandenburg (Havel). After the war it became 1948 general manager of the Volkswagenwerk in wolf castle, which it removed in the following two decades to the turnover-strongest car factory of Europe. Into its era also the establishments of the Brazilian and South African Volkswagen works fall. At his activity it is seen critical that he held to for a long time to the tail and double-piston engine philosophy of the beetle. While other manufacturers built for a long time vehicles with spaceeconomic and for financially more favorable crosswise inserted row engines and front wheel drive, the Volkswagen program (so e.g. the series VOLKSWAGEN type 3 and VOLKSWAGEN type 4) was based still on that, although ingenious, construction Ferdinand Porsche of the beginning of the century. The same reproach may one however also Nordhoffs successors make: Paging came only with the K70, which after the assumption of NSU nearly invariably, but evenly as VOLKSWAGEN and not when NSU came on the roads.
